Every ANORA piece is hand-sewn and hand-decorated, so it deserves gentle care. Below you’ll find general guidance for the fabrics and decoration techniques we use — but always follow the tag attached to your specific piece first.
Hand-embroidered jackets and vests (silk/satin)
We recommend hand washing in cool water or dry cleaning. After washing, store on a hanger or laid flat, away from sunlight — direct light fades both the silk and the coloured embroidery threads over time.
Ikat-dyed fabrics
Pieces with a hand-dyed ikat pattern need a little extra care, as the dye is not always fully fixed:
- Hand wash in cool water (up to 30°C / 86°F) with a mild detergent.
- Do not wring the fabric — press out excess water by hand.
- Dry flat, away from sunlight and radiators.
- Iron inside-out on a low setting, ideally through a cotton cloth, to protect the dyed pattern.
- Alternatively, use dry cleaning.
- Avoid long soaking and tumble drying.
Embroidered bags
Hand washing at up to 30°C / 86°F is recommended. Clean structured elements (base, handles) with a damp cloth rather than submerging the whole bag — this helps the bag keep its shape and stiffening for longer. Dry away from any heat source.
General tips
- Before the first wash, test on an inconspicuous part of the fabric.
- Avoid direct contact with perfume, deodorant, or creams before wearing — silk and dyed fabrics absorb these easily.
- Do not use bleach or harsh detergents.
- Do not tumble dry — high heat weakens the fibres and the hand embroidery.
- Store away from direct sunlight, which fades the dyed pattern over time.
- For tougher stains, use a professional dry cleaner and mention the hand embroidery or ikat dyeing.
