What is a joma?
Joma is a traditional Tajik jacket – one of the most distinctive garments of Central Asian dress, worn for generations in Tajikistan as a light, loose outer layer. In Poland it’s sometimes mistakenly called a “kimono-style jacket” because of its simple, wrap-front cut – in reality, joma has its own, separate tailoring and design tradition, unrelated to Japan. ANORA sews jomas following this Tajik tradition, pairing an authentic pattern with a shape that’s comfortable for everyday wear in Europe.
Craft and material
Every joma in the ANORA collection is hand-sewn – no production line, no rush – so no two pieces are identical. The base material of most of our jomas is adras – a traditional ikat fabric blending silk and cotton, characteristic of Central Asian craft. The ikat pattern is created by dyeing the threads before weaving, giving it that typical, slightly “blurred” outline – a natural feature of the technique, not a flaw.
Reversible cut – two jackets in one
All ANORA jomas are reversible: they have two distinct, fully finished sides that can be worn facing out interchangeably. Buying one joma gets you two outfits, in effect.

All jomas have a universal, oversized fit. Mini – M, Midi – L, Maxi – XL (floor-length).
Care
We recommend hand-washing in cool water (up to 30°C) with a gentle detergent, without wringing – press out excess water by hand and dry flat, away from sunlight and radiators. Iron from the inside, at a low temperature, ideally through a cotton cloth, to protect the dyed ikat pattern. Alternatively: dry cleaning. Avoid prolonged soaking and tumble drying.
